Our Story

Patel Ranch was founded in 2026 when our family discovered a beautiful 20-acre property in the De Luz valley. Drawn by the region's legendary reputation for growing world-class avocados, we saw an opportunity to build something meaningful—a grove that would connect our family to the land and to the rich agricultural heritage of Southern California.

De Luz has been avocado country for over a century. The valley's unique microclimate—warm days, cool ocean breezes, well-drained granite soil—creates conditions that are practically custom-designed for growing California Hass avocados. When we found this property, we knew it was the right place to put down roots—literally.

What We Believe

Quality Over Quantity

We'd rather grow fewer, better avocados than chase volume. Every tree gets individual attention, and every piece of fruit is hand-harvested at the right time.

Stewardship of the Land

The land was here before us and will be here after. We farm responsibly—conserving water, building healthy soil, and protecting the natural beauty of the De Luz valley.

Community

We're new to De Luz, but we're here to stay. We're learning from our neighbors—many of whom come from families that have farmed this land for generations—and we're grateful for the welcome.

Transparency

We want you to know exactly where your food comes from. When you buy from Patel Ranch, you'll know the grove, the grower, and the care that went into every avocado.

The Land

De Luz sits in the rolling hills of northern San Diego County, halfway between the Pacific Ocean and the Temecula wine country. It's a small, quiet, agricultural community—home to avocado and citrus groves, horse ranches, and families who value the rural way of life.

The valley sits at an elevation of 800–1,200 feet, high enough to benefit from natural cold-air drainage that protects groves from frost, but low enough to stay within the avocado-friendly temperature zone. The decomposed granite soil drains beautifully, and the Pacific breezes that roll through every evening keep summer temperatures manageable.

It's no accident that De Luz and nearby Fallbrook (the "Avocado Capital of the World") have been growing avocados for over a hundred years. The terroir here is exceptional.

Looking Ahead

We're early in our journey. Our trees are a mix of young and mature, and our first harvest is on the horizon. We're excited to share our California avocados with the world—starting with our neighbors in Southern California and eventually shipping to avocado lovers across the country.

We believe there's something special about knowing where your food comes from. As we grow, we plan to open the ranch for visits, host educational tours, and become an active part of the De Luz agricultural community.
