Reserve 2027 Season Avocados

Adopt a Tree FAQ

Do I own the tree or the land?

No. Adoption is a 12-month sponsorship and harvest allocation. Patel Ranch continues to own and care for the tree, the land and its water. It does not include a right to enter the property without an approved, escorted visit.

Will I get all the avocados?

You receive all the marketable fruit we harvest from your identified tree during your 12-month adoption. Every pick is weighed and logged in your harvest tracker.

Is there a guaranteed quantity?

No. Hass trees naturally alternate between heavier and lighter crops, and weather, flowering and tree health all play a part. There is no minimum yield and no replacement fruit from other trees.

Can I name the tree or put my family's name on it?

Yes. You can give your tree a nickname and a display name. Names are private by default — they only appear publicly if you opt in and our team approves them. Plaques are optional and also reviewed before printing. We never show children's full names publicly.

Can I visit?

Your adoption includes one visit request. Visits are by prior approval only and always escorted by our team; farm safety rules apply and we may reschedule for weather or farm work.

Can I pick the fruit myself?

Generally no — Patel Ranch harvests for safety and quality. We may occasionally offer a separately scheduled, supervised activity.

How do I get my avocados?

You pick up your harvest at the ranch. Avocados may be picked in more than one batch during the harvest window (Spring – Summer 2027 (estimated)); we keep your fruit together, log every pick in your harvest tracker, and email you when it's ready — usually that's a single pickup, and if more fruit is picked after you collect, we'll email you again. Fruit is supplied at harvest maturity and usually needs a few days at room temperature to ripen.

Do you ship?

No. Adoption harvests are pickup only, at the ranch. If you can't come yourself, someone you name can pick up for you.

What if there is little or no fruit?

Because harvests are shared-risk, low or no natural yield does not automatically trigger a refund or replacement fruit. We'll contact you promptly if your tree's crop is very poor, and we may offer goodwill case by case. If your tree dies or is removed, we'll contact you about your options under the adoption terms.

How long does an adoption last?

12 months from the day your payment is confirmed. It does not renew automatically: when your year ends, the adoption ends and the tree becomes available to anyone. To keep your tree for another year, simply adopt it again — your new 12 months start from that payment. On the monthly plan, billing stops automatically after the final payment.

Can I cancel?

Yes, online at any time from My Trees. Cancelling stops all future payments right away and ends your adoption: any fruit you haven't picked up yet is forfeited, and the tree may be adopted by another family. Payments already made aren't automatically refunded.

Nature sets the harvest. Every tree is different, and quantities vary with weather, flowering and tree health. There is no guaranteed minimum number of avocados, and an adopted tree may produce little or no marketable fruit. We do not promise replacement fruit from other trees. Harvests are picked up at the ranch; approved ranch visits are subject to separate terms.
